Bambu Indah
Bambu Indah –literally ‘Beautiful Bamboo’ – is located in the village of Baung, Sayan, 15 minutes south of central Ubud. The villa is comprised of seven unique Javanese houses. These are historic traditional homes built by Javanese tribes over 100 years ago. They are hand-carved teak wood, some intricately painted and all finished with thatched grass roofs. These houses once served as the residences of a Javanese nobleman (as bridal homes). John Hardy brought them from Java and lovingly restored them to serve as accommodation to many of his guests as well as a private hotel.

ELORA HOUSE

The Elora Room is named after John's first daughter, this room was originally part of the owner's land and house, it was moved piece by piece just next door to Bambu Indah. It is the most light, friendly and generously a portioned room and so far as the glass and wood windows open on two sides and the ceilings 20 feet high. This house is built of iron and red wood and has a large porch overlooking a very large vegetable garden beyond which is the Sayan river gorge. This house is ideal for longer stay for somebody who perhaps have some work. The room is 5.5 by 6.5 meters wide and has a private indoor outdoor bath surrounded by mud walls covered with traditional Indonesian tiles. The airflow is good in this room, curtains cascading around the room and the bed are gorgeous blue and white and the bedding is or course wonderful. This room has some mud love Tibetan carpets and antique Chinese and Javanese furniture, truly a paradise.

This beautiful house with lush tropical gardens is furnished with :
king-size bed, mini bar, IDD telephone, in-room safe, a suite shower with rainfall shower and hand-hammered copper washbasin,  bathroom amenities, air conditioning, ceiling fan, private verandah and a day bed inside the room.

PUBLIC FACILITIES
Minang House
HISTORY
A brave young woman once traveled to Sumatra on a Fulbright scholarship. She found the last of the great Minang houses existing in wood. She measured it lovingly, she drank it in and she came to create this future of Minang houses made from black bamboo from the forest of Java.

The measurements are exact, no wall is straight, no pole is straight. The energy of a Minangkabau clan house is intact. This house was built in 30 days, and the roof took another 60. But as you see it towering each curve of the roof has exactly the symmetry of a rising full moon. A place for celebration. A place for special dinners. A place for yoga in the morning. A place just to sit and dream. Black bamboo uplifts you.

FUCTIONS :

The Message House
The message house was the smallest of all Javanese houses ever found. We didn’t know whether it was built for a grandma, or a young royal virgin. But what it became was a place to enjoy an incredible massage. A place that closes up and hold you in wonderful Javanese wooden elegance.

The Pool
How to make a pool without chemicals and cement? It’s a simple recipe. Dig a hole, line the hole with high density polyethylene, ultimately recyclable after 60 years of life. Dig a beautiful river and fill it with lava stones. Add a very smart American bacteria which gavels up all the things in the pool that are green.

Clear water, water you can drink. There’s nothing like a natural pool. Surrounded aligned with beautiful big stones from the mountains. Enjoy the pool, don’t be afraid if you run into a fish or two. They’re happy to share the pool with you.

DINING
Dining : Bambu Indah does not have a restaurant but caters for lunch and dinner by offering a daily menu from one of Bali’s best chef’s and we are open for suggestions. We serve your dinner: in front of your terrace, in the dect or in Minang house
