Teras Sungai Villa - Ubud Bali
Enjoy complete privacy at this rare stand alone villa, within 5 minutes walk of Ubud village. (The vast majority of villas in Ubud are either part of a complex, or if they are stand alone, are miles out in the rice fields.)

Stay with us

Our staff prepare your breakfast, provide housekeeping, gardening and pool cleaning services. Teras Sungai can accommodate up to 4 people. Escape the rat-race and experience Bali style open-air pavilion living with modern comforts.

We are a privately owned villa with a pool, designed by an Australian architect, a specialist in tropical architecture. Situated above a river, there are three separate living pavilions, one for dining, one for relaxing by the pool, and placed up high to catch the cool breeze, another for sleeping.

For short-term stays, breakfast is included in the tariff. For an additional charge other services can be provided such as a personal driver, tours, local information and bookings to events.

Teras Sungai Villa - Ubud Bali - Recommendations

First of all, there are guide books and maps at Teras, so ask Ketut for these.

DANCE PERFORMANCE
One of our favourites is Saturday night behind Cafe Lotus, which has a spectacular stage all lit up in red with the lotus ponds in front. Friday nights there's Ubud monkey dance, and programs every night at the Ubud palace opposite the market. Check tourist info to confirm days/locations or changes.

SPAS
Check our fav, Spa Hati, Jl Raya Andong No14, Ubud
Tel: 361 977578 Just past Delta supermarket on the right. A not-for-profit foundation
http://www.spahati.com

If you'd like to try the original Balinese Mandi Lulur - oil massage and Balinese herb and yoghurt scrub, followed by a flower bath - then Nur Salon, 28 Jl.Hanoman Tel: 361 975352, was the first in Ubud. They have trained the masseurs for many other places. Bodyworks, opposite Nur, is also a local place.

If you'd like to experience an upmarket place with matching prices, then try The Wibawa Spa at Fibra Inn on Monkey Forest Road - tel 972152. You will need to book massage in most places in high season.

SHOPPING FOR FOOD
Mini mart next to Casa Luna, but for a bigger supermarket, go to Bintang
http://www.buravi.com/jalan/super/bintang-ubud.html

or Delta http://www.buravi.com/jalan/super/deltadewata.html

Organic food from Bali Buddha cafe restaurant and shop (also home delivery), opposite the Post Office - ask Ketut for directions.

RESTAURANTS
Our closest in Jl Bisma, Cafe Des Artistes. http://www.cafedesartistesbali.com/
Also, Miro's Garden restaurant on the corner of Jl Bisma opposite the school.

Casa Luna in the main street, Jalan Raya, also has another restaurant, Indus - you can get free shuttle transport from Casa Luna.
http://www.casalunabali.com/casa-luna-restaurant/

Indus, about 5 mins drive away, is situated overlooking a deep gorge with stunning views. Similar menu with very reasonable prices
http://www.casalunabali.com/indus-restaurant/

Upmarket, with beautiful food, is the nearby Ary's Warung, also in the main street. There is an upstairs section, too. They have the daily newspaper available to read at the bar. http://www.dekco.com/aryswarung/

2 more upmarket restaurants. Mozaic, Jl Raya Sanggingan, Ubud Tel: 361 975768
http://www.mozaic-bali.com/
and minami (Japanese) also Jl Raya Sanggingan, Ubud Tel: 361 970013

Three Monkeys Cafe in Monkey Forest Road looks onto a pretty little ricefield at the back. A peaceful respite from the madness of the road. http://www.ubud.com/resto/resto.php?resto_ID=59&page=1

For real home style Balinese family cooking at ridiculously cheap prices, visit Roda Cafe in Jalan Kajeng, known as Graffiti Street. It's on the right-hand side, above a wonderful gallery called Threads of Life, which is devoted to saving the textile arts of Indonesia. Well worth a visit. http://www.threadsoflife.com/mainstoreubud.asp

If you want to see the full range of textiles, crafts etc available, a good place to do this in relative comfort is the gallery/shop owned by Casa Luna. If you walk down to the lower level of the restaurant, you can walk across and enter directly.
There are so many restaurants in Ubud with a wide range of cuisines and prices, I'm sure you'll find new favorites of your own. You can walk to many of these places, but to go to the other end of Ubud village we usually get transport to go, and then walk back visiting the shops and cafes along the way.

Transport is readily available, either from Jalan Bisma in front of Tri Nadi Salon, or by walking down to the main street.

A WORD ABOUT THE SHOWER - The pressure comes from a cold water header tank, so wait a minute for the hot water to come through, and then add pressure and volume. Any problems, ask the staff. They are happy to help you with anything.
If you'd like complete privacy, feel free to ask them to go home after completing their daily duties.

We wish you a relaxing, peaceful holiday at Teras Sungai.

Taxes and Tipping
No additional charges apply. Our staff are there to please, so do not feel required to tip them for their normal duties. However, tipping is welcome for extra personal services, or if you wish to show your appreciation at the end of your stay.
